Kitchen table

The kitchen opens up to the dining room, where Hollis played with size and shape. She designed the solid French oak dining table and bench, which were fabricated by B Serota Furniture and Architectural Design, and flanked the table with a Host and Hostess chair from Coup d'Etat San Francisco. She hung two Piet Boon-designed drum pendants over the table and placed a large mirror on the wall to extend the space so that the person sitting on the bench can see the living room fireplace in the reflection.Photo by

"My most important must-have, truly, is art which can be in the form of paintings, sculpture or other decorative arts," Serra says. "The paintings in this kitchen are from my own personal collection." Cover chairs by Thomas Bentzen for Muuto surround the dining table. Customized Walls created the mural.

One of the few designer pieces in the home, a set of four Michael Thonet coffee house chairs,

from 1859, offer a simple seating solution. The dining table, designed by Odgård, was built from a 109-year-old oak tree, which was harvested and milled locally.
