Kitchen for an Art Collector

Remodel of an existing kitchen in the urban core of Downtown Des Moines, IA for the Director of the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation. The existing kitchen was dark, outdated, lacked circulation, and conflicted for balance with the colorful art collection. The new design becomes a beautiful sculpture in itself, muted back to allow the art to be the focal point. A six foot square island wrapped in carrara marble becomes the gem of the space, anchoring the kitchen to the living space.
