In the kitchen, custom cabinetry conceals a plethora of appliances for a streamlined look, including two integrated Liebherr refrigerators, one integrated freezer, one Eurocave wine cabinet, and two Blum Space Towers. The island is faced with gray birch veneer, and the sculpture is by Jeff Thomson.

When the multi-slide door is open, the kitchen’s barrier to the outdoors completely disappears. “The kitchen is one large open space that almost acts as a ‘stage’ for the nightly cooking process,” say Darci and Dale. Walnut millwork and polished concrete floors anchor the family cooking and gathering space.

The gourmet kitchen boasts dual marble islands, custom white oak cabinetry, and high-end Gaggenau appliances.

In the kitchen, oak millwork pairs with simple matte black cabinetry and stone accents. Sphere pendant lights from Hub Furniture hang above the island seating, adding a simple, playful touch to the open space. Connected to the garden and main living area, the kitchen is now the ideal location for gathering with friends and family.

The entrance leads into the kitchen, past opposing staircases that lead up to the bedrooms.

The bespoke marble table extends from the island and is flanked by elegant Bodystuhl chairs from Gebrüder Thonet Vienna. Johnny B. Good pendant lights by Ingo Maurer hang from above.

To flip the house, they eliminated the second story, taking the ceilings high and the windows wide. To make up for the lost square footage, they added on a wing, built a separate garage with a guest apartment above it, and brought the hangout spaces to the front to capitalize on the views. "The original house had good, solid bones,” says Jennifer. “What if the whole wall was windows?” the homeowner asked, and that certainly worked—sunlight pours in through entire house from the front floor to ceiling window wall.

The kitchen, although embellished in antiquity, is decked with sought after culinary technologies; including a 7ft Lacanche range, custom inset cabinetry with solid brass hardware, Italian marble countertops, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, two dishwashers, and an under-counter ice machine, wine refrigerator, and custom built-in wood burning pizza oven.

An elongated, marble waterfall island anchors the open kitchen, which is located just steps away from the primary living spaces.

An attractive gravel driveway and contemporary landscaping is viewable from the expansive kitchen window, originally the eight foot wide carriage house garage door. Now the wall is two feet deep, allowing for plants and decor to sit happily on the sill.
