Custom MDF cabinetry was built by local cabinetmakers InGrain Custom Millwork and painted a soft gray shade.

In this custom-built London guesthouse kitchen designed by Studiomama, lustrous vertically clad cabinetry achieves additional depth with the addition of the chairs, which were picked up for $15 each at a local market and powder coated in bright orange.

Now, the sizeable kitchen is an exceptional blend of old and new. The original floors, coffered ceiling, and windows are joined with IKEA cabinets with Semihandmade fronts, and Vermont-sourced Danby marble counters.

The cabinetry is fabricated by a local Indian craftsman styled in the manner of modern German and Italian kitchens at a fraction of the cost.

The home features a full open kitchen with a Vipp V1 Kitchen in black aluminum and stainless steel. “The Vipp products are very functional, and the kitchen has a wonderful lightness as it stands on legs,” says Thomas. “The black color of the kitchen and the stone floors match incredibly well.”

A vaulted ceiling interspersed with skylights, in tandem with floor-to-ceiling glass, fills the home with natural light.

Cabinets are all lined with hardwood, and the walls themselves are clad in Blackbart timber with a unique paint treatment that allows the texture to shine through to add warmth.
