The Olson Brothers made a custom front for the Fisher and Paykel panel-front refrigerator ($5,299). The cabinet hardware ($2000) is from a mix of brands, including Armac Martin for the brass hardware and Ashley Norton for the fridge handles.

Of the new and old woods being joined together, Sam says, "Things have darkened. Things have gotten beat up. Things have been lived in, so now everything has more of a cohesive feel to it."

Stephanie detailed a built-in bench, which is now a favorite spot to sit with the cook, in order to fill in the wasted space below the window, using yellow velvet for the custom upholstery ($2000).

Stephanie tapped frequent collaborator Olson Brothers Construction to fabricate new cabinets from Fir, with reclaimed tongue-and-groove on select fronts. The couple saved money by having Sam complete the cabinets with an oil-rubbed finish, which took "a couple weeks and a couple coats,
