The arch motif was repeated throughout the home, at doorways and built-in niches.

The matte black canisters are from Crate & Barrel.

The c-shaped kitchen is built from Ikea carcasses which were strengthen by the couple’s joiner to withstand the weight of the polished concrete worktops and clad in Douglas Fir plywood.

The kitchen is lower than the rest of the open-plan living area, helping to create distinct zones between the cosy living space and the practical cooking area. A three-metre long rooflight above floods the kitchen with natural light.

Black marble countertops and plentiful shelving give the home plenty of kitchen storage options.

Carolla sourced the large-format porcelain tiles from San Diego Marble and Tile, same as the sage tiles, alongside a 48-inch Bluestar range.

A Breville espresso machine gets the couple ready to hit the waves in the morning. All of the artwork was shot by Carolla.

The kitchen features the same care and attention to detail found throughout. The timber cabinetry echoes the use of timber frames and panelling elsewhere in the home, while the graphic cut-out handles mirror the geometric architectural forms.

The far dry goods pantry and near appliance garage can be deployed to create a full C-shaped kitchen that surrounds the chef. Appliances can be deployed onto the top of the pantry and then returned to storage without having to ever be unplugged from the outlets that are built in to the pullout.

A wall of cabinets in the corner provides additional pantry or storage space, along with a professional-grade refrigerator and freezer unit. A skylight brightens the otherwise dark corner.

The pantry doors open to reveal an extra-high level of customization where every inch of storage space is thoughtfully accounted for. What looks like two pull-out drawers below the space are actually three drawers, as one door actually containing two drawers inside it.

Black wooden doorknobs from Australian brand Kethy were used for the cabinet pulls. The couple decided on bowl-shaped knobs for the larger pantry cabinets, and cylindrical knobs for the smaller cupboards.
