Shane came to the project with a "lifetime of ideas," he says, although the prospect of taking on an entire property's renovation was daunting. He kept the kitchen simple and used drywall and oak for much of the detailing.

American white oak was used for the flooring throughout the house, including the sun-filled kitchen. A Brendan Ravenhill hangs above the sink, and a Wolf cooktop was installed opposite the island.

"The unassuming ink-toned cabinetry is lined with an unexpected burst of brilliant salmon pink; a punchy gesture that balances the strength of Tom’s artworks without overshadowing them," says Lynch.

The Horizontal Bar Block is a specialized toolbox for cooking and serving.

The Horizontal Bar Block can be designed into an island or peninsula, and contains accessories for the kitchen. It also acts as a serving surface.

One side of the Functional Wall is sculptural, meant to beautifully separate the kitchen space.

The Henrybuilt Functional Partition Wall provides elegant spatial screening or division of space within the kitchen. It provides both privacy and transparency, creating distinct spaces without dividing them harshly.

An open kitchen was rebuilt to face the rear courtyard. Contemporary features include a pop of color contrasting with teak veneer cabinetry and other wood tones.
