A new catwalk along one side of the former church’s nave created room for an upstairs workspace above a main-level family room (pictured below).

In Portugal, local marble can be a cost-effective material—Fala used five types in the house. It forms a kitchen counter that runs into the floor of a landing and then up the stairs and it even shows up on the facade.

The lofted space shag carpet was replaced with bouncy cream colored popcorn Berber Carpet to spark feelings of summer camp nostalgia.

Located in East Austin, the renovated house has more space for Drew and Vero's three children and their collection of art, records, and books.

The double-height stair volume and new windows create a much sunnier, open, and functional home.

The bathrooms maintained the original porcelain fixtures and Vitrolite glass-tiled walls.

While much of the home has been preserved, the kitchen underwent renovations to bring it up to a modern chef's standards.

In the primary bedroom, ten-foot-tall doors from Sierra Pacific open to a patio.

The douglas fir ceilings and terrazzo flooring underwent treatment to bring them back to their original condition.

There are two decks, one on each floor.

The dining room includes a vintage buffet, as well as a Florence Knoll credenza and Eero Saarinen armchairs and table. An Akari ceiling lamp by Isamu Noguchi hangs overhead. The Wire Base Low Table is by Charles & Ray Eames for Herman Miller.

In the living room, two shades of gray paint from Sherwin-Williams complement the upholstered furnishings from Knoll.

Williamson and Hua aimed for an indoor-outdoor experience that could be enjoyed day and night.
