The "Jardin des Émergences" is a metaphor for the vital momentum of plants, their energy. It is a message of hope for the 21st century landscape. This concept garden was designed for the international garden festival of Chaumont-sur-Loire.
Fast forward to the future...
Climate change has eradicated the world of plants. The vegitation is scarce, the soil is mineralized, large slates of shale and slate form on the earths surface. The plants rebel, react and take their revenge. They break the earth's crust and rush to conquer the light.
The visitors are confronted by the chaos marked with the contrasts between the dark minerals and the luminous plants, springing from the ground. The forms of plants evoke the movements of rupture, eruption, explosion of beaten earth that opens and fissures. Seeking the light for their survival, the plants are capable of a remarkable inventiveness of shapes and colors and unsuspected energy. They break the earth's crust and cause faults and fractures.
Drought-resistant yucas break through the soil creating space for herbaceous, perennial and other annuals that are adapted to the warmer environment. The colors predominantly orange and yellow evoke the flames, the fire and contrast with the black slabs. The garden of the 21st century is a hymn to the revival, bursting and vital rush of the plant world.
