The Loft is a multipurpose space used for a variety of events, from video shoots to flower arranging workshops. "From the beginning, we knew that the upper level would have high vault ceilings and insane amounts of natural light," says Tarah. "We allocated that space as our work and office area, knowing we wanted privacy to work, but in a setting that felt elevated and relaxed all at once."
The couch swing was the last element of The House to be designed. "I wanted something comfortable and unique, but not weird," says Tarah. "In a stroke of genius, Drew suggested a couch swing." The piece was made by the couple in the garage just days before the first booking and is one of the guests’ favorite features.
The wildflower garden by Farlam & Chandler featured flexible containers by BACSAC filled with perennials and ornamental grasses designed to evoke the spirit of a late summer meadow. Materials and transport were kept to a minimum and it was essential to find a home for everything after the event to minimise waste.
The Out of the Valley team are experts in timber construction, and have a deep knowledge of off-grid technologies and the principles of biophilic design—think natural materials and gently rounded details, such as this porthole window. The buildings and furniture by the brand utilise modern construction techniques as well as a respect for traditional craftsmanship.
