The bar was built to complement the skate bowl with a design that would work in tandem with it. A black Smeg refrigerator and surfboard rack are just a few inclusions that contribute to the overall industrialized look. Going a step further, a 4.5-meter-long timber bar created from ground and polished concrete was designed to match the flooring seamlessly.

Heating for the unit is provided by a Spartherm fireplace, with electric heating integrated into the magnesite floor. Walls are insulated with fire-tested wool felt under plywood panels.

A Jutland, Denmark, house designed by Mette Nygaard and Morten Schmidt of the architecture firm Schmidt, Hammer & Lassen features a minimalist bathroom that's naturally lit with Plexiglass skylights. Read the whole story here.

The home’s living room is located on the lower level, opposite the kitchen. The herringbone-patterned brick floor is partially covered by a carpet purchased in Istanbul. A sofa and Muuto sideboard anchor opposite sides of the space.

With the help of architects X+L Studio, Nynke Meeuwissen and Mark Aink rehabilitated an old school outside of Amsterdam into a comfortable roost for their family of five. The former gym—with original herringbone parquet floors—is now the living room, furnished with Minotti sofas, a Danskina rug, and a Gyrofocus wood-burning stove.

Soft recessed lighting interacts with mostly white surfaces in the loosely defined Furniture Room, creating what Wolberg calls "an architecture of the senses."

In the living room, a double-height window and a skylight work together to frame a view of the Victorian Gothic church just across the street.

The Miele Induction Cooktop combines convenient features, like an expanded cook zone, with smart kitchen functionality. Using Con@ctivity 2.0 technology, it can communicate with applicable Miele ventilation hoods to turn on-and-off in sync.

Black-rimmed steel clerestory windows add illumination in this diminutive white kitchen where black accents abound. A black Aggregato Saliscendi Suspension light, designed by Enzo Mari and Giancarlo Fassina for Artemide, accents against the white Calacatta marble countertops and MAP's oak Milky Stools.

Structural lines are on full display in the bedroom, where ceiling beams and a plywood bed frame catch the eye.

The architect selected a monochromatic scheme to highlight both the courtyard landscaping as well as these sofas by Poltrone e Sofá.

The new all-white office space frames the iconic Shard. Flush skirting creates clean lines and allows furniture to butt up against the walls. Wide plank high-density fiberboard in a white wenge finish reflects light and makes the space feel larger. It also resists scratch marks from skidding the Eames side chairs.

In Saint Ouen, France, a suburb of Paris, architect Nathalie Wolberg plays with lighting and interior design at her house/studio, Maison NW. The three-level building, located in a former printing house from the 1950s, acts as a blank canvas for her to experiment with colorful, dramatic objects that evoke strong emotions.

Installed by a local vendor, the Corian sinks and bath combine to form a freestanding island in the upstairs bathroom, outfitted with fixtures by Ritmonio. A series of artworks by Tim, including a sculpture that emits a soft glow, accent the pristine space.
