Though often classified as an architect first, Van Duysen has built a design empire based in Antwerp that produces everything from accessories to lighting. This year he was named creative director of Molteni&C; in 2015 he won the Flemish Culture Award for design.

An interesting concept debuted at Interieur 2016 in the form of "Future Archive"—an assemblage of objects from participating design companies, displayed during the show and meticulously re-curated throughout the show, each day by a different creative type—stylist, photographer, musician, chef. Each object in the assemblage was introduced to the market in 2016.
