A built-in corner desk complements the new window seat.

The "back parlor" . Togo couch is from Ligne Roset. Bookshelf is from Triboro Shelving (we painted it white and added the wood shelves) . Maureen found the Eileen Gray side table and carved wooden side table are from a second hand shop in the Berkshires. Vintage Brass arc lamp was a gift from my Dad who bought it for his first apartment after college.

The central winding stair is one of the elements Maureen loves most about the home's design. She had the original beadboard and dark wood of the stairs sanded and re-stained.

The workshop interiors emphasize function, with polished concrete slab floors and 35-foot-high ceilings to accommodate large projects and gatherings. The disco ball, set to spin via a smartphone app, can be lowered with an industrial winch and is visible from the overhead studio suite through a peek-a-boo window.

Rather than augment the site’s natural slope, the design introduces a cable-stayed cantilever that hovers over the landscape. This space is primarily used as a patio, with a hole cut into the flooring to allow an existing tree trunk to pass through the space.

The duo’s design philosophy is influenced by the principles in Case Study Houses. They believe in creating spaces that are simple, warm, and special without the use of superfluous elements.

As co-founders of their own design firm, the pair are used to working together on projects. However it was their first time designing their own home, yet they still describe the process as being simple and aligned.

A steel and wood gate-like structure enhances the home’s privacy, keeping it closed from the street and open to the landscape behind the wall.

Highly durable yet low maintenance materials were used throughout the property, from off-form concrete to copper, glass, local red mahogany and concrete blocks.

The bedroom features a feature wall, built-in bookshelf, and bed made from pine. All of the furniture is custom made except for the vintage French folding beach chair.

The Outward Bound cabins, designed by the University of Colorado Denver's design-build program, have steel frames that lift the structures above a three-foot snowpack while supporting corrugated-steel "snow roofs."

The living room sofa is from Article and the coffee table is from Burke Decor. The rug is vintage, and the fur chair was found at Urban Outfitters.
