The converted garage feels airy and private despite its 576 square feet. In fact, Brian recently hosted his friends, a family of five, in the casita.

The garage turned casita/pool house features a custom plywood bed, bench, and cabinetry.

The previous owners used the residence as a vacation home. The husband was an avid painter and photographer who used the garage as a dark room, which meant there was already plumbing installed when Brian decided to convert the space into a casita.

Solk thickened the fireplace wall to two feet deep, and packed in storage capabilities around the newly refinished fireplace, which now has large-scale porcelain tile surrounding it.

The spruce cladding along the interior can be left as is or painted white, and the wood floor boards can be darkened or replaced with tile: both at no extra cost. LOVT also offers to install pleated blinds on the windows for $1500–$4300.

The daybed beneath the window was specifically designed for LOVT. Apart from hiding storage, it can be moved from the wall and split into two unites to provide extra seating.

This studio features wraparound, floor-to-ceiling windows to let in natural light.

The family practices judo regularly in the Dojo, as well as yoga. It’s a perfect rainy day play space for kids too.

Poured polished concrete floors, plaster walls, and the pine ceiling with hemlock beams infuse subtle interest and warmth. The bend in the gathering pavilion follows the site’s topography.

Wrapped in perforated metal and European larch stained a deep-brown color, the rectangular prefab includes an open kitchen and living space, a bedroom, a bathroom, and wall-height windows to take in a view.
