Innovative Academic Spaces by SOM
A panel at Dwell on Design NY will explore how tech-forward teaching and learning is changing how we conceptualize academic spaces. Joining the discussion is Colin Koop from Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, who led the construction of The New School's University Center. Click through the slideshow to see the building, along with other educational spaces that Koop has helped transform.
Koop is the Senior Design Architect of the framework plan for Cornell NYC Tech, a new applied science university that will call a 12.4-acre campus on New York's Roosevelt Island home. The plan, which includes construction of the city's largest net-zero building, pairs more traditional academic buildings with a series of flexible outdoor spaces.
