Here, Sarah and their dog, Mandy, are seen in the kitchen. The counters are soapstone and the cabinets stained white oak.

Architect George Bradley and his husband, Eddie Baba, renovated a 1941 house in San Francisco. Tiles from Heath Ceramics surround the Ortal Clear 130LS fireplace. The white ceramic logs are by Klein Reid (but of course can be replaced with real firewood!), and the firewood storage continues the same dark horizontal band that contrasts with the light-colored fireplace cladding.

The catwalk above leads to the master bedroom. The living-dining room’s Stix chandelier is from Nido Living.

Some of the living room walls were painted with a gray lime wash by Portola Paints, while other walls were finished with Nebulous White by Sherwin Williams. The pink, wall-mounted light is from Anthropologie.

Ceaserstone in Blizzard was used for the perimeter countertop, and Silestone in Lusso for the island top and the waterfall edges.

Ankory and Carni designed a storage unit under the stairs with a pull-out table and bench where their kids can play and do their homework.

A custom steel dining table with a walnut insert is surrounded by Eames Molded Plastic side chairs; the hanging fixture is from Tech Lighting.

The kitchen features countertops made from Artedomus Grigio Basaltina stone.

Throughout, Erik and Bill repeated and “wrapped” materials, like the birch plywood near the front entrance, which extends from the bench to the coat rack.

At the back of the property is a deliberately understated entrance, and a simple canopy that shelters the front door. This door opens onto a landing, from which a broad corridor follows the natural gradient alongside a generous garden courtyard.

The hopper motif is repeated in interior details such as door handles, wall tiles, and sinks.
