The first batch of wood was delivered by Crenshaw Lumber and so now we are ready to start framing.

Shallow trenches were dug in the locations where concrete footings will be eventually be poured. The objective is to identify the exact locations of tree roots so we can plan the fabrication and installation of sleeves that will allow the roots to pass through the footings.

For the dining pavilion patio we specified cast concrete pavers from Concrete Collaborative in Oceanside, CA. Here the Acacia colored pavers are stacked on-site ready for installation.

Pre-stained cedar is stacked at the job site waiting for installation. The cedar was left for on-site for eight weeks to acclimatize. Cedar siding swells or shrinks when it gains or loses moisture while it reaches equilibrium with the content of the surrounding air. Ensuring the cedar is acclimatized before it is installed will minimize movement later on.

Tyvek wrap and flashing seals the joint between a window and the wall of the front office. Caulking is placed on the interior. Eventually the entire home will be wrapped in Tyvek.
