A view into a corner bedroom. Despite the home's efficiency, its interiors are filled with sunlight year-round.

A custom storage cabinet holds dishware for team meals. The first floor is a functional office day-to-day, but Wedge also likes to lend it out for community events like book launches, workshops and pop-ups.

Three main materials run across the two floors: soft white drywall, warm wood and aluminum details.

The pendant light here is Lambert and Fils, a special piece from the company’s 15th anniversary sale. The Vitsoe 606 storage system displays inspiring books and reference materials.

In the home office and media room, which overlooks the street, the architects were able to preserve the distinctive, star-shaped parquet floors.

“A lot of renovations today have so much white and gray, and we wanted to run away from that,” says São Paulo native Joyce Prestes. “We really wanted color.”

Updates to the kitchen included new counters and backsplash in Vermont Maple marble, and semi-custom cabinets in a matte moss finish.

Son Arthur splits his time with his mom and dad, so Augustine realized he needed a proper bedroom for Arthur as he was getting older.

The circulation now moves through this portion of the kitchen, but the cook is protected by the U-shape on the opposite wall. The niche is a functional spot for making coffee or kids' lunches, out of the main cook's path.

"I was on the fence about that one, but I'm kind of a denim guy, so it also makes sense," he says of the latter. The kitchen table was fused from an Eames base and a laminate tabletop that a friend made.

In the entryway, stained white-oak cabinetry provides a tidy place for shoes and bags. An unexpected but delightful moment of Brooks Thomas’ Martha Armitage wallpaper adorns the ceiling. The front door is a custom design.

The counters are by Caesarstone and the backsplash tile is Fireclay. The appliances are from Fisher Paykel.

The steel beam that supports the new addition on the second floor is supported by a new wall that was finished in Venetian plaster; its different layers evoke a ruin, almost art-like in its texture and tonality.
