Lafayette Park's two-story townhouses are configured in a U-shaped formation.

Because the original kitchen had been removed, Alexandra made the decision to widen the gallery-style room by ten inches. Floor-to-ceiling glass makes for ample natural light in the eating area, while the Vitra wall tiles provide a contemporary touch.

The 1941 Druckman Residence has a new pink kitchen, original plywood paneling, and an open living area overlooking the Hollywood Hills.

“The house is kind of crooked, with rough floors, and no fancy finishes—but it has lots of personality,” says architect Francisco Mesquita Moura.

Set on a sprawling 30,000-square-foot lot, the Lake Vista home has been lightly updated, and it comes with a pool and a cabana.

On the neighboring property, kYodai House brings to mind the horizontal lines that were hallmarks of Wright's designs.

Tile was also saved in the demo to repair the opening around the new door frame.

A new, sweeping plaster form flows around the fireplace, elongating the mantel and creating display shelves in a previously unused alcove. The convex tile treatment composed of Clé tile provides a rich contrast with the plaster, and the new hearth is marble.

Hess combined a John Boos butcher-block table with a piece carved by local wood sculptor Vince Skelly to create a sculptural kitchen island. "As soon as [Skelly] brought that in there, [Charlie and Todd's] little daughter hopped up on it and owned it. So, that's where she hangs out in the kitchen," says Hess.

After: The soaring new living and dining space benefits from an abundance of natural light from every side, and they spent a lot of time trying to find the best lighting for the kitchen. The final choice: long, narrow copper pendants from Denmark suspended by ultra thin wires to not disrupt the visual flow of the room.
