“Unfinished House is a two bedroom, two bathroom 1,400 square foot home in Canada that is a prototype for panelized prefabricated construction with a high-performance envelope,” says Workshop Architecture. “Panelized prefab means that instead of being framed on site, the house comes flat-packed on a truck, a jigsaw puzzle of 8-to-16 foot-wide pieces that have the structure, insulation, and vapor barrier all pre-assembled.”

Architect Simon Knight of Simon Knight Architects relocated the kitchen, and placed a boot room in its place. The painted cabinets are from Alban Furniture.

Knight also installed a utility room where the kitchen used to be. The pink cupboards are from Howdens.

While Kille didn't get a separate bedroom, MR Studio was able to fit in a California king-sized bed into the space, complete with its own integrated curtains for privacy.

Aleksandra shifted and shortened the window to pack in usable storage around it. The kitchen now features a seating area featuring a Moooi Container table, Hay chairs and a banquette upholstered in a crimson fabric by Kvadrat. The pendant is by &Tradition.

Woud’s modular sofa provides a vibrant accent color used elsewhere in the house and ADU. The striped club chair is from Ferm Living; the Eames chair and ottoman were among the only things the couple brought with them from Colorado. The knot cushions are by Design House Stockholm, and the prints are by Cornelia Thomsen.

With the Wirick House, Calvin Straub used slender, exposed wood framing and tall windows to open up views of the San Gabriel Mountains.
