Midcentury furniture, and thoughtful accents make this holiday rental a truly delightful way to enjoy Norway's Vestfold County.

Raw wood planks were painted white and fitted next to a staircase and banister by Bättig Design. Matching chairs by Thayer Coggin sit atop a Crate and Barrel rug.

Three fireplaces were rebuilt, including in the master bedroom. The flues were relined in stainless steel to make them operable.

A mix of contemporary and 1950's furnishings fill the lobby bar space, accented with greenery and contemporary pendant lighting.

“There’s an interesting form of communication that happens when we’re both working. The music that is coming from the second floor starts to inform the painting that is happening on the first floor, and visa versa. It’s like we’re collaborating in an indirect way.”

Architect David Hill, his wife, Elizabeth, and their three children, have an unusual home by the standards of their college-town setting in Auburn, Alabama. Built in 1920, the industrial brick building has had previous incarnations as a church, a recycling center, and a pool hall, among others.

Farca furnished the living room with a Serge Mouille three-arm floor lamp, custom sofas from EF Collection, and Surface tables by Vincent Van Duysen for B&B Italia.

Räsymatto bedding by Marimekko in the studio is complemented by a green Anglepoise lamp from Sydney boutique Planet Furniture.

Fehrentz designed the wardrobe; the doors are covered in canvas printed with a baroque landscape scene. The curtains are by Dominique Kieffer.
