A new skylight regulates the living room’s natural light. Ronan set up great contrasts in the space with the bone white walls and ceiling, black wall unit with built-in fireplace, and the crisply framed courtyard. The owners enhanced the space further with vibrant photography and furnishings.

Hufft Projects designed the blackened steel "fireplace wall," which includes a Lennox wood-burning stove and an entertainment center. Ample firewood storage is incorporated below the fireplace and television, with enough wood storage for over a week.

The wood used on the fireplace wall was salvaged from the floor of the old home that the Architect and her husband lived in before eventually deciding to build a new home in its place. It was painstakingly salvaged, sorted, stripped, cut, and re-stained before finding new life as a wall finish.
