Dimensional tile lines the walls and the glass enclosure wraps the shower bench. A new skylight brings in natural light to the room, as it doesn’t have an exterior wall.

“We sandblasted, I don't know how many layers of paint off the ceiling, but we sandblasted it, and it turned out beautifully,” says Maziarski. “And then we just sealed in its natural color.”

A heavily mirrored exterior glass surface provides privacy during the daytime, with motorized drapes as an additional solve. However, because the drapes needed to encompass the entire space to attain full privacy, the firm had to think outside the box and move things that are traditionally located against wall surfaces out into the living spaces.

Large floor-to-ceiling glass cubes for the bedroom and bathroom spaces take advantage of the beautiful view of the lake and maximize the sensation of floating amongst the tree canopy.

The steel supports also solve a major design challenge of how to get the electricity, water, wastewater in and out of the elevated structure.

The stilts give the structure the appearance of floating above the site.
