A self-portrait of a lady with a dog (found at Salvare Goods) ties together the color palette of the living area. A bunch of people tried to talk him out of buying it, but he was convinced. Gerald and Kate in the kitchen with a small subsection of their seating collection, from two Eames chairs to the shibori cushioned Peter Danko. "I was on the fence about that one, but I'm kind of a denim guy, so it also makes sense," he says of the latter. The kitchen table was fused from an Eames base and a laminate tabletop that a friend made.
Just past the upstairs landing, there’s an open space with a tatami mat beneath the lofted office nook where Tsuyoshi, a systems engineer, works from home a few days a week. Both receive lots of light from the central skylight. A hallway below Tsuyoshi’s workspace leads to the family’s shared sleeping area, which has a small window.
