"How would a kid draw a house?" architect Per Franson asked himself when designing the Olivero-Reinius family home. The simple prefab structure’s unusual color comes from a traditional source: falu rödfärg, the historic mineral paint that gives the region’s famous barns their red color.
"The curve moving down the bluestone lane is quite an anomaly in a subdivision," she says. "Our clients wished to keep the extension to one story, and as we only had a limited area to extend into, we decided to maximize our use of the block and build along the boundary."
Lisbeth Juul and Laust Nørgaard drew upon their years of experience living on the water to design and build an 860-square-foot floating home in Copenhagen Harbor. The home’s minimal form and furnishings reflect the residents’ desire to downsize following three years on land.
Each prefab is sent to its location completely ready and finished, and units can be assembled in just two days. All of the furniture and equipment are also included.
