The home's three levels are framed by large planters containing fruit trees and other vegetation. The custom block makes up all of the home's exterior walls.

Homeowner Sean Brunson led the design of the new modernist home, enlisting the help of architect Alex Stone to complete the drawings. For the design, the Brunsons were inspired by the modest post-and-beam homes of the 1950s and 60s, particularly the Sealy House by Edward Killingsworth.

In the master bathroom, tiles from Ladrilar’s Pausa collection showcase symbols from musical scores. The selection serves as a subtle tribute to the architect, who is the daughter of composer, Almeida Prado.

The open kitchen boasts a burnt-cement floor with a playful pink pigmentation, which the architect and Flavia collaborated on together.

In the bedroom, soft white and tangerine hues contrast with the tree-filled views outside the window.

The 1970s apartment architect Ana Sawaia renovated for her clients Pedro and Flavia was poorly lit and felt cramped. In addition to removing partitions to bring in light and create a sense of openness, she also refinished elements like the concrete pillars and beams, which were stripped and polished to create a patinated effect.
