The times they are a-changin’ for the legendary singer-songwriter’s 18,357-square-foot manor.

Perched in a 1920s Art Deco building, the 1,360-square-foot apartment hits all the right notes with large windows, polished concrete floors, and high ceilings.

Quartersawn oak built-ins throughout the house were fabricated by Toronto cabinetmaker Built Work Design.

In the living room, CH22 Wishbone chairs by Hans Wegner for Carl Hansen & Søn and a vintage steamer lounge flank a custom marble coffee table. The Horse Fair, by Dutch painter Willem Carel Nakken, rests on the fireplace, and antique grain shovels lean nearby.

Large stones, mature bamboo, fountains, and acacia trees create a Zen-inspired backyard. Other notable amenities of the property include a large lap pool, detached guest house, and a two-car garage.

Polished concrete continues inside, where a sprawling open layout awaits, featuring an anchoring fireplace and expansive sliding glass doors that overlook the backyard.

Project architects Studio Marshall Blecher and Jan Henrik Jansen Arkitekter opened up the center of the house, previously comprising a maze of fourteen small rooms, creating one large and airy kitchen and dining space with a high, chapel like ceiling. A six-meter-long concrete plinth standing at the center of the room which doubles as an island bench and dining table, had to be lowered into the house by a crane while the roof was being reconstructed.

Helsinki architect Ville Hara and designer Linda Bergroth collaborated on a prefab shed-meets-sleeping cabin, which can be assembled with little else than a screwdriver. Bergroth, inspired by nomadic yurt dwellers, wanted an indoor/outdoor experience for her property in Finland.

Everything brought to the island must be transported by boat or barge, so furniture is minimal. Carsten purchased the 1960 Rais wood stove more than a decade ago with the intention of using it in a cabin one day.

A fresh coat of Benjamin Moore Super Hide Ultra White flat paint brightened the apartment. The accent pillows, made of African mudcloth, were sewn by Jordan's sister. The rattan rocker is from Article.
