The 456-square-foot Base Camp and 312-square-foot Fish Camp will both be priced in the $20,000 range. Recognized as a historic landmark by the city of Long Beach, the Ebell Theatre was designed and built in 1924 by C.T. McGrew and Clark Philip. Eight decades later, it was converted into 11 residential lofts by RPP Architects & Associates. Each comprises a unique floor plan, ranging in size from 1,200 to 2,200 square feet.

“Often the boys use the shipping containers in ways we hadn’t even imagined—like bravely climbing on top of the containers and jumping onto the big bean bags below,” says architect Paul Michael Davis. “It’s probably not advisable—a shipping container isn’t a jungle gym—but it’s thrilling to see a space used in ways you never expected!”
