The open-plan kitchen, dining area, and living space are arranged in a 16-square-foot volume that features a vaulted ceiling, lending a sense of spaciousness.

A wall of built-in storage cubbies, shelving, and a bench anchors the bright white-painted bedroom, which features a walk-in closet.

Adair and Kopp built the booth right into the kitchen island to help make the kitchen the center of the house. “It’s purposeful programming,” says Adair. “We want to have more conversations with our kids. So even if we’re cooking, we’re still right there.” The cabinets here store snacks and art supplies.

Extensive storage in the kitchen hallway provides plenty of spots to put beautiful objects on display or tuck them neatly out of sight.

Bedroom 1’s wallpaper is from Spoonflower, its wall lights are from Gantri, its side tables are from Wayfair and its throw pillow is from World Market.

The materials were selected with consideration for how they’ll age and patina over time.
