Amanda and her husband have been spending most of their time on the porch, relaxing, working, and tending to their herb and vegetable garden. "We've got a ledge that's over a foot wide and currently has tomatoes, basil, peppers, a small lime tree, Meyer lemons, parsley, and sage," she says.

Traditionally, a bump out like this is used for a table, but we wanted to make a cosy sitting space where you can enjoy the view to the backyard and be just outside of the main living space. The ceiling is accented here in natural wood to draw interest and make the space warmer.
