We scoured the internet for the best offerings from some of the most creative designers out there.

A steel-and-wood built-in “shoe drop” cabinet at the top of the stairs prevents things from piling up at the top step. As the design progressed, the home became more thoroughly “built-in,” and nearly every room has custom features, including desks, windows seats, benches, cabinets, and panelling. “This is an echo of the many craftspeople who set up shop in the nearby homes in the district 100 years ago, installing custom wood panels, handrails, built-ins, and bookshelves,” says architect Nicholas Fiore.

The powder room plays with the same textures and materials found in the primary suite (plaster-coated walls, ribbed wood, marble), but the darker tones elevate the look.

The materials-forward primary bathroom features additional custom oak cabinetry and a thick marble countertop. Minimal hardware and a geometric overhead light are subtle yet sophisticated additions.

The visual simplicity and raw beauty of the space takes inspiration from a surprising source: the Wes Anderson movie Isle of Dogs. “Ravi sent me a screenshot and I just said, ‘I’m on board,’” says Emilie.

The wood planks run vertically on the walls to echo the direction that trees grow, while the board-formed concrete fireplace wall runs horizontally because that is how one pours the concrete. “It’s another play of contrasts,” Thomas points out. He bought the net from a local fisherman.

In the bathroom, the Unity Vanity features an integrate neameled steel sink and is designed to be easy to install and to maximize interior storage. This piece was part of the catalyst for the launch of Henrybuilt's Primary Objects collection.

Quarry Pavers from Seneca Tiles cover the bathroom. All of the fixtures are from Sigma, and they were originally chrome before Grey stripped and refinished them.

The entire home is wrapped in pine tongue-and-groove, which matches the original finish on the ceiling.
