Around a hearth made of black bricks and a Jøtul stove found on Facebook Marketplace are vintage leather loungers that a friend pulled out of storage and an Iranian rug given to Kyle and his wife, Elsie, by another friend. The couple sourced midcentury furniture and dishware from Toronto dealers like Mid Century Modern Toronto and Inabstracto. They also loved Etsy sellers Mimi La Rouleuse, Mid Age Vintage DE, Happy Moose Vintage, Mrs. Marvellous, and The Art of Object.

The kids’ bath has a whole new look that includes orange glass subway tiles by Ann Sacks, ceramic penny tile, an orange trough sink, and sconces from Barn Light Company. The custom recessed medicine chest is made from mahogany with a butternut-colored finish.

Sutherland added a skylight to new primary bath, which is located behind the couple’s bedroom. The custom maple vanity has a white concrete top and Kohler Purist fixtures. The glass Roku wall tile in Rain Gloss is by Walter Zanger, and the ceramic floor tile is Original Style Moonbeam penny round. The new door is a copy of the cabin’s original interior doors. “I love how the wood door plays against the modern tile,” Sutherland says.
