Every piece of the cabin's wood was either chainsaw milled by Jeff, Molly, and their friends out of trees killed by the fire on site, or is old-growth salvage redwood from a nearby mushroom farm.

The kitchen occupies one corner of the L-shaped structure. As throughout, the floors are made up of reclaimed eucalyptus that Chris planed himself.

The vintage chairs are by Hans Wegner, while the table, cabinets, and the rest of the furnishings in the home were designed and built by Doug.

With its large covered porch and glazed walls, the Beaver Creek Cabin frames the forest like a picture.

Before: In the first remodel, a substantial kitchen island offers more prep space, and the finishes were chosen to appeal to the average buyer. "It wasn’t so much a matter of designing the kitchen of my dreams as it was an attempt to create a kitchen that would help sell the house," says Brit.

The expansive windows offer unparalleled views of La Plata peak while also providing lots of natural light to the living room and kitchen.

Hope replaced the upper wood cabinets with open shelving and painted the lower cabinets a shade of gray-green. Beneath the linoleum were wood floors that the designer refinished.

The team constructed three bunk beds, each equipped with an individual reading light, USB ports and plenty of storage. The wallpaper is Spoonflower Boho Denim Grid by Holli Zollinger.
