The back deck features an outdoor shower designed by Scott. Made of stainless steel and brass components, it uses a garden watering nozzle for the shower and foot-wash heads.
A giant multicolored Endless Sofa from Bensen takes up the first floor living room, accompanied by poufs and a My Beautiful Backside Sofa from the same brand. The suspended paper lights are by Foscarini.
A patio of permeable grating sits at the center of Le Pham and Mai Tran’s live/work ADU in Albany, California. The couple, who formed their architectural practice, 3R Studio, in 2014, bonded over their mutual love of architect Peter Zumthor’s designs while working together at a firm in Vietnam.

The family dog, Georgie, stands atop oak upstairs flooring.
The couple are also design lovers, particularly when it comes to vintage furniture. The study is furnished with a Saarinen Table by Knoll and Thonet Cantilever Chairs.
The kitchen is open to the small living area with OR.CA outdoor sofas and another Armadillo rug. The pedestal coffee table is by Hawk and Stone.
Built-in cabinetry beneath the staircase provides extra storage space for the 1,024-square-foot home.
The room is still a work in progress, but the rug has been a major upgrade.
The barn-style front doorsstay open during warmer months, giving a view of Eugenia’s garden. A floating desk, Hay Design coffee table and separate couch offer additional seating in the downstairs area.
The green backsplash tiles are vintage, reclaimed from another project.

To reflect light around the room, Alper chose to use two shades of white in this space. The warmer of the two, Cotton Balls, was used on the walls.
The couple chose polished concrete throughout the home to contrast alongside more textural timber. The concrete has thermal heating below it to stay warm in the winter.
Clad in cypress and charged with color, the North Fork getaway of author Julie Satow and editor Stuart Elliott is something to write home about.
