The penthouse loft, currently for sale, is perched in the building's south-facing corner and measures 1,818 square feet. Remodeled from floor-to-ceiling, the dwelling features a stark modern interior, complemented by original concrete and exposed structural elements.

Perched high in the 1920s Ebell Theatre—just blocks from the beach—the converted loft comes with 18-foot-tall ceilings and a private rooftop patio.

Starting at $6,000, you can get one of Baumraum’s unique prefab cabins, which come in an array of shapes, sizes, and materials. The above cabin, dubbed Auswahl Bachstelze, is a geometric structure clad in oxidized steel. The custom-designed cabins are prefabricated off-site to prevent damage as they are erected in their new natural landscapes.

Deep, earthy greens like olive and wasabi were popular during the 1960s. Relentless Olive (SW 6425) from Sherwin Williams and Green Root (8334) from Jotun capture these shades well.

A full exterior remodel of the older house allowed Cornuelle and Tall Firs to match its siding and trim to the new ADU. They designed a front door with a circular cut-out, bringing a modern touch to the traditional entry.

All of the exterior furnishings are from Fermob. The wood-burning fireplace anchors the open living-dining space.

To date, the pair and their pals have built a compound complete with sheds, tree decks, a pavilion, a wood-fired hot tub, an outhouse, an outdoor shower, and, now, a redwood cabin where an ever widening network of friends gather for skill-sharing workshops and events.
