Large sliding glass doors connect the interior living spaces to the outside, providing seamless indoor/outdoor transitions.

The open living space is full of natural light with vaulted ceilings that heighten the space. White walls provide the perfect backdrop for the designers’ bold palette of colors and materials.

Annie Ritz and Daniel Rabin, the couple and co-founders behind And And And Studio, revamped a neglected home in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles by adding a tall re-framed roof and 1,000-square-foot extension, as well as emphasizing outdoor areas like the wood deck adjacent to the pool. Interior highlight: the kitchen, with its olive green cabinetry and wood-clad circular island.

Mattingly encased the shower in 2x2

The walls are covered in Portola Paints Roman Clay in ‘Anchor,’ and the floors are Bedrosians penny tile.

A custom mirror and cabinet by the contractor conceals full-height storage. Jessica found the oversized concrete sink on Craigslist and Mattingly matched it in scale with the brass faucet. A ledge has leftover soapstone from the kitchen, and forms a shelf that runs into the shower.

The wall shelf with rail and cabinet hardware are also by DeVol.

The design team retained the old supports, which now frame the kitchen. Jessica picked DeVol cabinets and systems for their traditional-meets-streamlined style.

Hotho added a clerestory window to a light well, as well as an open shelving unit to divide the space, both of which let light flow through. The vintage campaign table is used as a desk, but can be broken down and stowed in place of a mattress, when the couple want to use the room as a guest suite.
