Walnut cabinets are paired with Pietra Grey marble on the counters and backsplash. The island stools are by furniture designer Andrew Dominic, while James Mudge fashioned the dining table and chairs, and the light is Arkivio. A display cabinet has fluted glass, in a nod to the home’s original midcentury era.
A single linear element of joinery was installed across the entirety of the south facing wall of the flat, which houses various functions including a kitchen larder cupboard, display cabinet for pottery, plenty of drawers for camera equipment, and at the far end, book storage and a living room media cabinet
Neufeld detailed bleached white oak millwork throughout the home, with clever clerestory windows at the top. In the foyer seen here, there’s a display niche with good storage, and the window above is to the primary bedroom. The wall at the doorway to the room is angled, so it doesn’t feel cramped by the cabinetry.
"Rick and Lucy were having a hard time figuring out the location of the fireplace...They wanted the comfort of the fire, but didn’t want the unit to impede on the flow or block the views. Lucy stated that she loves to keep her rooms flexible so she can easily change the layout. This conversation led to the idea of a suspended central fireplace.
