The only hint that the couple’s home offers more than it first appears to is a neon house number in a front window.

Each family member received a batch of modular pine-wood furniture elements to distribute around the house.

Other than the kitchen and bathroom, the house has no designated rooms. All the spaces are multi-purpose, and can function as living rooms, workspaces, or bedrooms.

The new master bedroom includes a bay window protruding outward from the original facade, making a window seat that frames a view of shore pines and the dunes.

The couple purchased the living room’s H.W. Klein chairs with the house. Another existing piece was the mezzanine’s daybed, designed by Peter Hvidt and Orlando Mølgaard Nielsen. An original floating staircase leads to the mezzanine and then up to the second floor. The open, straight-forward spaces speak to one of Christian’s guiding principles: “Simplicity is the key,” he says.
