The Barn Gallery faces southwest to a secluded waterfront bluff, and is surrounded by 4 acres of woodland and a private meadow. Collection and filtration of rain water, and a focus on natural landscaping are integral parts of the Barn Gallery sustainable design philosophy. The rain garden (foreground) functions as a natural filtration system for stormwater runoff headed to the channel below, and is one of the most talked-about features.

The chef’s kitchen is dressed in a classic white aesthetic, with stone countertops, stainless-steel appliances, a large stove with an industrial range hood, and European glass cabinets. A custom wine vault and large pantry is also included.

A floating staircase leads to a quiet, light-filled loft space, which is currently being used as two-home offices.

Fully glazed, the gabled end wall overlooks a spacious entertaining terrace and the meadow beyond. The adaptable rooms in this part of the home were designed to either be sheltered or open to the sky, depending on the weather.

Set off a quiet country road, a long gravel driveway leads to the home's wood-clad garage.

Designed by Alex de Rijke of dRMM Architects, the Sliding House puts a fresh spin on country living.

The home's two-car garage can easily be used as an office/studio space.
