Tiny homes have officially become a thing—and these woodsy getaways will make you want to downsize ASAP.

Boise, Idaho–based architectural designer Macy Miller built her own 196-square-foot home, which she shares with her partner, James Herndon, their newborn, Hazel, and the family’s Great Dane, Denver. The exterior cladding, which Miller stained for a uniform effect, is a mix of nearly a dozen types of wood plank, including poplar, oak, and fir.

The 31-foot cabin includes a four-foot spire.

The backyard—complete with an outdoor dining area and fire pit— is fully enclosed, offering an idllyic oasis to rest or entertain. Additional highlights of the home include an outdoor shower, a detached room that could be used as a guest-suite, and easy beach access.

“Living in a home that we worked on with our own hands alongside our family—it’s so much more nourishing,” says Carisa.

The couple replaced all the windows with solid mahogany windows from Duratherm, a local Maine company.
