In the year following the remodel, Serena and Andrew are taking a slow and considered approach to picking out their furnishings. “We're just trying to live in the space and think about what works,” says Serena. At the ceiling, the “Athena” surface mounted light found on Etsy.

The kitchen was expanded in the remodel, and outfitted in Ikea cabinets with Semihandmade fronts painted sage green and CB2 half moon pulls. The counters are Corian Snow Flurry, and the new patio door is aluminum clad wood from Jeld Wen. A panel ready Fisher Paykel refrigerator is to the right of the stove.

A dilapidated built-in had to be removed, and Lee swapped in a floating storage unit and shelf in its place, wrapped in the original wood casework for contrast.

Downstairs, a separate family room is defined by exposed steel framing with inset brick walls.
