Shophouses are a staple of Southeast Asian urban architecture. A team of designers including Yong Ter, Teng Wui, Andrew Lee, and Edwin Foo renovated this shophouse into a contemporary sanctuary over the course of two years. They left the roof completely open from the beginning of the original airshaft to the back of the house. The heart is a cooking/dining area with a 13-foot-long Indonesian table made from a single piece of teak.

Homeowners Toni and Graeme sit on the patio with their dog Bokkie. An exterior conversation pit is the most popular spot in the house. A gas grill and pizza oven are built into the back brick wall. The countertop to the left of the wood storage nook is made with leathered Zimbabwean Granite.

Unexpected window placements, such as a soaring window sandwiched between the kitchen cabinetry, ensures ample natural light sweeps throughout the sprawling interior.

The partially covered area in the courtyard presents an idyllic setting for al fresco dining.

The primary suite presents a soothing retreat to rest and unwind, complete with a spacious bath, walk-in closet, and black-framed, sliding glass doors that open up to the pool.

In the kitchen, Fougeron and her team designed a nook backed with sliding panels and lined in green felt from FilzFelt. Solo Wide Dining Chairs by Neri & Hu for De la Espada surround a Dizzie table by Lievore Altherr Molina from Arper.
