Conceptually the design is comprised of three rectangular forms assembled like fallen tree trunks.

In addition to open-plan spaces conducive to indoor/outdoor living, the RPA LivingHome 3 comes with a spa wing with a steam room and sauna that can be configured into a live-in suite, large workspace, or home gym.

The single-story LivingHome 3 takes inspiration from midcentury case study homes in California.

The second level showcases the ceiling’s rimakatto finish. The battens soften the home’s appearance while improving acoustics.

From the living area, a winding staircase leads to the second level with an additional living space and two guest rooms.

A view from the kitchen out toward the living area provides a sense of the lofted interior.

The three-bedroom Iniö model from Pluspuu features floor-to-ceiling windows, a loft-like interior, a wraparound deck, and a gable outline reminiscent of a traditional log cabin.

"I love the flexibility of the modular space: The same space can be used for sleeping, meetings, or yoga and meditation," says Teke. "The house is surrounded by decks, which further connect inside and outside, and I love that different times of day and seasons of the year create almost different microclimates on the decks. On the technical side, I enjoy how the house runs as a machine, a shell with all its mechanical needs housed in the core and underneath the structure for optimal flexibility, ease of adjustment, and efficiency of distribution."

The piston-operated pine sunshades lift upwards to protect the exterior deck and give residents the ability to manually modulate the home’s access to daylight and shade as the sun moves across the sky.

The off-grid MU50 is topped with solar panels and solar thermal panels. Ground-source heat pumps support underfloor heating and cooling, while a nearby well supplies water. A desalination system provides drinking water, and rainwater is collected for landscape irrigation.

Designed to sit lightly on the land, the transportable MU50 prototype is nestled into a pine-covered cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea.

Minimalist sliding doors separate the rooms.

The 260-square-foot Hytte module features tall ceilings of up to nearly 12 feet. Multiple windows fill the interior with natural light and frame views of the outdoors.

A gas fireplace creates a cozy interior.

To minimize energy use, the residence relies on natural ventilation for cooling. Heat is provided by an inflow hydronic tubing system. Note the guesthouse seen behind the bridge.

On the second floor, an IKEA leather sectional frames a reminder of their time in the City of Brotherly Love: a tree coffee table the couple purchased from Open House, their favorite boutique store in Philadelphia.
