The cabinetry and the rebuilt fireplace—with an asymmetrical hearth and curved mantel—give the music room a retro vibe. “We spent so much time getting that right,"”says Jacoby. “The original fireplace had these curves; we wanted to echo them in the redesigned space.” The glossy green tiles surrounding the fireplace are double-glazed Heath Ceramics 2x4s in a luminous Jade hue.
Downstairs, the bathroom is less colorful, embracing texture and material to achieve its calming, minimal vibe. Here, a custom oak vanity anchors the space. The curve of the Rejuvenation mirror nods to the arch of the Kohler faucet. A Caesarstone quartz countertop and Daltile wall tiles round out the room, while Scout Regalia’s SR wall hooks provide a pop of color.
With an interior clad in wood and outfitted with a CLT bench and desk that laterally brace the small structure, this mobile writing shed is simple but effective. We love the idea of using a few pieces of carefully chosen furniture, especially for a she shed, where space is precious, but the use of the space might be a bit more focused.
