In the upstairs bathroom, the team expanded the footprint by taking some space from an adjacent bedroom. The tile is from Cle, the tub is Claybrook, the faucets are Brizo, and the walnut casework contains custom-designed pulls by Murray Legge Architecture.

The single bathroom is made of concrete and has a shower open to the sky.

Most of the furnishings, including the daybed, coffee table, and stools in the living area, were designed by Deborah and built by her handyman and carpenter, Luis Rey Mendoza. Secluded at the house for much of the pandemic, Deborah threw herself into creating items for the interior. “It was my art project,” she says.

The same oversized doors are in the primary bathroom, alongside a soaking tub from Victoria & Albert and porcelain In Essence “Sabbia” tile.

In the primary bedroom, ten-foot-tall doors from Sierra Pacific open to a patio.

The covered patio creates an indoor/outdoor flow conducive to the PNW climate. The table is surrounded by Blu-Dot chairs and the hanging light is from Urban Electric.

The designers enlivened one of the bathrooms with vertical pink tile and drawer pulls.

An onsen, or Japanese soaking tub, with a private garden abuts the master suite.

Six-inch-square blue tiles cover the walls and floor of the girls’ upstairs bathroom. The towels and rug are also by H&M Home.

For a couple with three young sons and a dog living in Canyon Lake, California, Popix Designs founder Lizzie Green laid out a grid of ceramic tiles in a checkered pattern that matches the home renovation’s playful ’70s vibe.

Friends and family hang out on the back patio. “It’s kind of a fugly house, but we don’t care,” Caleb says.
