To create connectivity between zones on the ground floor, internal slot windows have been placed between the kitchen and the dining and living areas. For structural stability, steel frames were added and coated in yellow to match the yellow painted kitchen walls.

The kitchen is from Classic Kitchens Direct, with the cabinetry colour matched with Farrow & Ball’s Duck Pond green paint which has been used on the living room walls.

Rowan was given the oversized dining table at the end of a theatre production, when she used to work as a theatre producer. The chairs were from an antique store called A Touch of Dust.

A utility space has been added to the centre of the floor plan, with an original Seventies dining hatch retained and filled with reeded green glass. “Keeping a bit of the history of the building felt like a lovely thing to do,” says Rowan.

A window seat was added at the back of the house framing the rear garden. “It’s our favourite space to sit on a cold, rainy winter night when you can hear the tapping sound of rain drops on the glass roof above,” says Rowan.

The living zones have been painted in Farrow & Ball’s Duck Pond green hue. The framed art work hanging over the yellow Loaf sofa is a print of David Hockney’s Montcalm Interior at 7 O'clock painting from a 1988 exhibition.

The cabinet colors are Farrow & Ball’s Skimming Stone and Sherwin-Williams’s Garden Gate, and were handpainted instead of spray-finished, so as "not to have something too slick or sterile," says VW. "We wanted them to be warm and have personality."
