The family chose Glidden’s Velvet Slipper as an accent color for the wood storage reading seat, custom built but Geoffrey and the family. They matched a shade of purple in Elli Pop’s 'A Forest-Into the Trees' wallpaper, installed on the adjacent wall. The fireplace is a Stuv 21 with a hand-built tile surround. The Duncan Phyfe sofa was found on Ebay.

The original laundry room, which took up precious front-of-house window space beside the kitchen, was relocated.

The former laundry space was refashioned into a windowside booth, its built-in shelves, walls and ceilings painted red. It's become popular with kids and visitors.

Architect Merritt Amanti Palminteri reinvented her family home to add volume, flow, and infinite charm without changing the footprint.

Danny envisioned the space between the ADU and the house as an informal place to gather. "It creates a sort of courtyard sensibility, which works for our intergenerational family dynamics."

In his renovation of Kate Brien Kitz and David Kitz’s Los Angeles home, architect Andrew Hall reinterpreted the original gable roof and siding. Landscape designers Mary Lange and Molly Funk transformed the yard with drought-tolerant plants. The walkway decking is from Kebony kebony, the Seaspray paint from Benjamin Moore, and the front door hardware from Emtek.

The redesign created two arched passageways into the kitchen as part of a rebuilt dividing wall, improving circulation and doubling as built-in storage.
