Local carpenters were employed to build the home.

“I’ve loved Moritz Kundig’s work for years,” says designer Josh Hissong, whose home in Spokane, Washington, turned out to be a 1971 work by the architect. Josh and his wife, Shiva, executed a thoughtful revamp of the house, which began with thinning an overgrown stand of pine trees to bring the entryway out of hiding. The exterior is painted Deep Space by Benjamin Moore.

The renovation by architect Paul McKean opened up the kitchen to the rest of the living room, without losing the original furnace, which is part of the home’s rustic-meets-modern charm.

The design provides ample outdoor deck space—including a covered portion at left, to make up for the lack of a yard on this sloping site.

Architect John Howe updated some portions of Wright's original design to resolve issues encountered by early residents of the home. According to the Historical Society of Ogden Dunes, long-time owners of the home, Pat and John Peterson, have also completed other updates, such as replacing original cypress paneling that had darkened over the years.

Unit #6 is located in the award-winning Condominium One, the first building designed as part of the Sea Ranch development. Today, it is widely known as one of the most significant landmarks of post-war American Architecture.
