The ceilings are constructed from solid cedar wood.

The floor-to-ceiling windows let in sunset light and glimpses of downtown.

INAX tile is paired with walnut cabinets by Bellwether Millworks in the master bathroom, which also features Ladena sinks and Purist faucets from Kohler. The tab pulls are from Häfele, the Syncro floor tiles from Century, and the Niveous pendant from WAC Lighting.

The designers raised the floor in the sunken den and painted the dated paneling Cotton Balls by Benjamin Moore. “We hardly ever used that space, and now we’re in there all the time,” says John. The credenza is a vintage find from Sunset Bazaar, while the Blok horizontal sconce is from WAC Lighting.

Set near Rhinebeck, the recently built house has crisp, white interiors, light wood accents, and an energy-efficient envelope.

Energy-efficient features have been woven into the home, including a passive solar design, mini-split heating and cooling, and a well-insulated envelope.

The kitchen's appliances are Miele and the cabinetry is handcrafted.

Ogawa Green Tile by Heath Ceramics covers the walls and floors. When the couple's existing tile stash wasn't enough coverage, the team was able to special order more to match.

Textured travertine limestone slabs from ABC Stone run under the custom white oak vanity, and are also used on the walls.

A kitchenette anchors the rec room, where the family gathers to watch television--House Hunters International Renovation for Kwame and Tamara, and "unhealthy amounts of Thomas the Train with our 4-year-old,

The staircase connects to the garden level. The wall mounted sconce is from the Brass Architectural Collection by Michael Anastassiades.

The kitchen now has an island with the sink, to create more work surface for Kwame and Tamara. A Bertazzoni stove has a Wolf hood.

Now the rebuilt staircase is a sculptural backdrop to the living room, which gained more space and natural light. The Tepee Sofa is by Lucy Kurrein, and the brass stool by Hem. The floors are Madera Belgian Oak.
