The couple located the dining room to the front of the house, stripping away the excess finishes to reveal the brick and wood structure, as well as the plaster walls. “We like the textures of Brooklyn lofts,” says Marina of their inspiration. They refinished the front doors and added new windows throughout. The artwork is by Matt Higgins.

Tom did all of the custom woodwork, including the kitchen island and cabinets, and Marina did the tiling, such as the backsplash behind the stove.

The drop ceiling hides plumbing from the upstairs bathroom.

Yellow vinyl floor tile defines the new living room and keeps the interior from veering too industrial. “You need to offset the brick with something simple,” says Tom. “Otherwise, you get too many textures.” The lights and coffee table were found at local vintage stores.

A porch extension of glass and corten steel was added to this renovated Italian country house. From within the views connect the porch to the outdoor, but from outside, the reflection of the glass volume reflects the natural landscape taking on the skin of green.

When nature calls, the primary bathroom, which looks out onto a patio planted with ample greenery, is ready. The rusticated marble sink basin was shaped by Guillermo Ciocca, a designer based in Córdoba, Argentina.

The home’s walls are clad in Oregon white oak reclaimed from a dismantled barn on the property. Jessica Helgerson chose to paint them white to create a bright, airy look, but she left the kitchen wall au naturel for a visual pop. With storage at a premium, the kitchen needed ample cabinetry as well as some ingenious solutions—including a pull-out cabinet hidden in one half of the range hood. A vintage cabinet on the left wall provides open storage for everyday dishes.

Whitney updated the living room by employing a light palette and rich textures. Beige linen covers the built-in sofa cushions; the pale tone maintains a feeling of spaciousness.
